What to prepare before writing

Nothing here is required, but it gets us to the point sooner.

The problem
What is actually going wrong: content you cannot update, a site that is awkward on phones, pages that take too long to open, things nobody can find — or no site at all yet.
Current site
If you already have a website, send the address, and point out the pages you most want to change.
Timing
When you would like to be live, and whether there is a fixed public date you have to meet.
References
One or two sites you like and one or two you dislike, with a note on which parts you react to.
